Join us for the opening reception of Portals, a group show featuring the work of Douglas Angulo, Tom Colcord, Abby Gregg, Kate Rannells, Rebecca Rippon, and Lauren Szabo.
Portals is an exploration of space in both 2D and 3D artwork. As artists we jump headfirst into questions that deal with art-making in a world that cross-pollinates the artificial and the natural. This tension between digital means and analog technique is fully acknowledged in the work, and further serves to confuse the unclear and probably irrelevant hierarchies that exist in the world of art that degrade pattern and decoration. This exhibition is meant to explore this duality by using our artifice as a lens to return to nature. The results are maximalist environments that combine these binaries, resulting in a conversation between different realms of reality.
